My reasoning for our taking responsibility is because we enjoy the world as created (in part) by those articles. They weren't one-and-done, they contributed to the society we have now where I (as a white person) am subconsciously enabled at the expense of others. It's less about sharing culpability for a crime, than recognising we benefitted from one.
